Suwanee Spa Spreads Love to Teen Parents in Foster Care
Norcross, Georgia (February 2021) – The Teen Parent Connection program at Creative Community Services is responding to meet the needs of teen parents in foster care with their #TLCforTPC campaign.
“In 2021, I am very hopeful and determined to bring light on Teen Parents in Foster Care and giving them the support they deserve to be the best version of themselves. These families need encouragement, cheerleaders, friends, mentors, and teachers to help them feel loved, safe, secure, and supported. It is a pleasure working with these parents and children, I can’t say enough positive words about their accomplishments and determination,” said Rochelle Grice, Teen Parent Connection Program Director.
“TLCforTPC” launched on GivingTuesday in 2020 and will continue throughout 2021 to help reach their goal of raising $25,000 for a matching grant. These funds will help the Teen Parent Connection Program continue to prevent child abuse, empower teen parents, provide life-long skills, and end the cycle of foster care.
As a result of a questionnaire completed by teen parents, the nonprofit found that 100% of teen parents that responded stated they do not reward themselves for their accomplishments and very seldom take time out for themselves.
To combat these outcomes, Teen Parent Connection has curated several events to promote self-love and increase positive mental health. On February 18, 2021, they will kick off with “Love Yourself”. A virtual spa day hosted by Denise Gray, owner of DKS Esthetics in Suwanee.
Motivated by her overall passion to help people, Gray ensures to create therapeutic experiences and educate clients. “Since I was a little girl, I knew my calling was to help others, so my career path led me in that direction. Decades of experience in the health care field has allowed me to develop the expertise and share my knowledge with others about prevention and maintenance of skin – the largest organ of the body and the key to a beautiful and healthier you,” said Gray.
During this virtual zoom event, teen parents will be gifted a spa care package to create at home DIY skin care treatments. Gray will interact and enlighten teen parents on the benefits of spa therapy, including topics such as: skin care, hair care, stress reduction, mental health, and self-care. Ultimately, the teen parents will have a chance to win a spa day sponsored by DKS Esthetics.
